A leading UK infrastructure supplier launched its first civils, utilities and specialist hire-combined branch today (Thursday 23 March), in a bid to drive industry and supply chain efficiencies.

The Burdens Bristol branch is now a single point of access to three Wolseley UK infrastructure brands – Burdens, Fusion Utilities and MCA-Fusion Hire & Repair. Announced in response to growing industry need for more time and cost efficient solutions to infrastructure supply, the move means contractors can fulfil all their supplies and hire requirements at the same time, from one location.

As well as civils supplier Burdens, the branch now also features utilities infrastructure provider Fusion Utilities, and utilities equipment hire, repair and calibration company MCA-Fusion Hire & Repair.

Tim Smith, sales and strategy director for the Wolseley infrastructure brands, said: “This is vitally important for the civils and utilities sector not just in the local area, but on a national scale. Our customers work on some of the biggest UK infrastructure projects and in order to be even more responsive to their needs, we will be replicating this approach across our branch network.

“Materials and equipment are the lifeblood of our civils and utilities industries. We understand it’s crucial for our customers working to tight budgets and timescales to have access to expert staff, as well as the right stock, in the right place, at the right time. In the process, this results in a simpler, more cost-effective supply chain and procurement process.”

And as well as the new branch, Wolseley has invested £1.4million in lorries across its infrastructure brands to increase delivery capabilities and comply with new, upcoming legislative requirements.

“Chief executives tell us they are worried about time and money when teams are out on the road collecting supplies. We are removing this headache, simplifying the process while reducing the associated costs and making room for more time on-site,” Mr Smith added.

Bristol branch manager, Bob Allen, added: “It’s great to be building a solution around what our clients want. Our staff have a wealth of expert knowledge of techniques, products and technologies and everyone at the branch is really enthused by the opportunity to offer contractors across civils and utilities solutions to their problems.”

The Wolseley infrastructure brands comprise 41 strategically located branches across the UK. Its wide portfolio of clients includes GTC, Laing O’Rourke, Skanska and Balfour Beatty. For more information, visit www.burdens.co.ukwww.fusionprovida.co.uk and www.mcahire.co.uk.
